Default PVP Etiquette?

Before I talk about this I'd like to note that I wasn't playing this particular match in the Hall of Heroes. I was watching.

My friend's team had progressed to the third stage: the six team fight. They were down to two team members, both monks, and their rez priest was gone. One of the other teams had surrounded the bodies of their fellow team members so that the two monks didn't stand a chance resurrecting them unless the other teams duked it out first.

Here's where it gets weird. Instead of trying to beat each other, the other teams stopped playing entirely, insisting that my friend's team leave the game. This continued for almost ten minutes before they finally managed to kill the two remaining monks. Is it common courtesy for mostly-beat teams to leave the game, or was this just another case of random internet lameness?

There is never a reason you have to leave. If you don't have rez, aren't doing damage and running around self-healing, you are wasting everyones time especially your own. If you have rez, than you want to force your opponents into each other and get a chance to rez. Teams have taken to making sure a weak third team is out of the picture so they can't rez, but they have to take the time to kill you if that is the strategy. Three-way standoffs are really a pain and really shouldn't be allowed to come up as often as they do. I think it is a design error, but I guess 6teams (48 players) was a good number for the servers.

IMHO it's lame to run only when you have no chances to win (in that case you're purposefully wasting everyone's time and make PvP less fun for everyone).
Anyway, all non-noobs will finish 3rd team in such situation before trying to beat each other. If you saw that two other teams definately want to kill you before fighting each other, then IMHO it's lame to run from them for 10 minutes. If they started fighting instead then it's a fair play to res your team.
